Rebecca Crosier (’09) storms the beaches for Canada By Paul Edwards
July 21, 2009 — This summer proves to be an extremely busy one for our own Rebecca Crosier ('09), who has blanketed virtually every beach with her volleyball skills so far this June/July.
• Rebecca is a member of Team Ontario/Beach. • She earned alternate status after the team of she and Cate Eckhardt ('06) came second at tryouts for Canada Summer Games in early June. • She became the youngest girl to ever win an elite level beach event when she partnered with Kacie MacTavish to take the Womens Elite tournament in Cobourg on June 21st. • Rebecca teamed up with Aurora's Victoria Altomare to win the OVA Womens Youth Open Tier 1 on July 12th in Cobourg. • Finally, Miss Crosier hit the big time when she qualified to represent Canada at the U19 World Championships, after a couple of weeks of intense work at the Volleyball Canada "Training to Compete" centre in Ashbridge's Bay, Toronto. She will pair up with Alexandra Hudson from the 18th to the 23rd of August in Alanya, Turkey.
Kudos as well to CareerCAP Cate Eckhardt ('06) who will compete with Kacie MacTavish at the FIVB Mazury Open in Stare Yablonki, Poland from the 3rd to the 8th of August.
Congratulations Rebecca and Cate for your continuing success, and for representing Ottawa – and Canada – with such amazing results on the beach!
