February 14, 2009 — The 15U Burgies travelled to Brighton on Valentine’s Day to participate in the OVA 15U Girls Challenge Cup Zone C! The girls had another very early morning, on the road by 6am, first game at 10! I did not attend this tournament, but of course was kept apprised of the results as the day progressed. All in all, it sounds as if the girls played well together, but could not produce a strong finish until the end of the day. The scores and games are as follows...
POOL PLAY: Match 1 vs. Kingston Pegasus Rampage: L 0-2 (19-25, 14-25) Match 2 vs. Richmond Hill Stingrays ’94: L 0-2 (21-25, 17-25) 3rd place finish – Pool A
PLAYOFFS: A3 vs. C2 (3) Durham Region 14U: L 0-2 (10-25, 13-25) L3 vs L2 Kingston Pegasus Fusion: W 2-0 (25-20, 25-22)
One of the ladies received a nice surprise as well. Coach Irena received flowers for Valentine's Day!! :) Thanks again to our coaches for their hard work getting the girls ready for another tournament and the parents for getting the girls there and cheering them on!!
