CareerCAPS Wrap to February 7th, 2009 By Deborah Carmanico
February 7, 2009 — In BCCAA (British Columbia Colleges Athletic Association) action, CAPS alum, Erin O’Doherty (’07) and her team, Vancouver Island University (VIU) defeated UFV last weekend in 4 games. Erin started in the power position and registered a double-double with 12 kills and 13 digs. Erin sits in 10th place amongst all BCCAA players – she has 2.52 kills per game.
In OUA action, Tess Edwards (’05) continues to lead all Ontario University volleyball players in service aces with 61 and is 1st in Canada amongst setters in points scored per game with 2.62.
The Ryerson Rams lost in 5 to Queen’s over the weekend. Haley Wolfenden (’08) setup 27 assists, had 3 digs and 1 kill in the loss.
Brock University defeated the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees in 3 sets, where Heather Potts (’05) had 7 kills, 4 digs and 2 block solos for the Badgers.
The Waterloo Warriors defeated Western 3-1 this past Saturday with the help of CAPS alum Laura Ledas (’07) who tallied 6 kills, 5 digs and 5 block solos. Laura also had 5 kills, 5 digs and a womping 9 block solos to help her team defeat Windsor on Friday night. Teammate Katie Spack (’07) picked up 15 digs in the game against Western.
McGill was defeated by Laval in the QSSF semi-finals. CAPS grad, Emily Kyte (’08) contributed 4 kills, 4 digs and 2 block solos in the Game 2 loss.
