February 7, 2009OVA 16U Girls Challenge Cup / Champioship East Division – Our goal for this tournament was to win gold and a spot in Premier Division!

Before our first game, we had a meeting and Linden told us to “Think Small, Win Big!”  With this in mind, we started our first game against DRVC 15U.  Although we were not fully awake, we managed to take the match in straight sets.

Next up was Durham Attack Red, where everything started to come together.  With some hard hitting and solid serving, we took the match in two.  Placing first in our pool, we started playoffs with high hopes of achieving our goal for the day.

We played an awesome game against Pegasus “RA”, taking them in 2 sets, with everyone working well together.

In the semis we came up against our Ottawa rivals, Maverick Outlaws.  The match was exciting and marked by long rallies, with every point back and forth.  In the end though we lost both sets by heartbreakingly close scores of 25-27 and 23-25.

Disappointed, we took on Barrie Elites Black for bronze, taking the match in straight sets.  Good job ladies!

Thank you to Linden and Devon for their coaching and to our parents for another long day of cheering us on!
