A day of mixed emotions for the 18U Girls in Kingston(PHOTOS) By Paul Edwards, with photos by Eva Edwards
December 6, 2008 — The 18U Girls – less Rebecca Crosier, who was busy working to make the 21U National Beach team in Toronto (go get ’em Bec!) – travelled to Kingston on Saturday to compete in the OVA’s designated LTAD (Long Term Athletic Development) event, the 18U Girls Provincial Cup.
Frankly, it’s difficult to not be left wondering what to say after a day like yesterday. The girls worked so hard, showed so much of the development – both individually and as a team – which has been demanded of them by their coaches, and yet they walk away entirely dejected after a tiebreaker loss in their final match of the day – their only loss of the event. I guess champions always hate to lose.
So, what do you do... what do you say? According to Coach Hannay, “We just have to remember these losses and give them back in the second half of the season. We’ll take a little bit of time off to recharge and come back strong in January.” For what it’s worth, we’re all very proud of the job you did in Kingston ladies, and of the way you represented your club, in both victory and in defeat. Enjoy your hard-earned Christmas break, and best of luck as you progress into the heart of 2009.
Now we’ll just let Eva’s wonderful pictures do the rest of the talking...
