June 7, 2008 - With temperatures soaring to 30 degrees, 16U female players from across Region 6 met at St. Patrick's High School on Saturday, June 7 to compete for an opportunity to participate in the OVA Regional Team Training Centre (RTTC) and the 2008 Ontario Summer Games (OSG).  The RTTC will be held at Humber College in Etobicoke from July 21-24 and the volleyball competition of the OSG will be held at the University of Ottawa from August 14-16.

CAPS head coach Cathy O'Doherty ran the tryout while several coaches from clubs across Region 6 evaluated the athletes.  Coach O'Doherty's drills required the girls to demonstrate key volleyball skills including serving, serve/receive, setting, passing, hitting and game-play over the course of three hours.  The CAPS' own Matt Harris and Mavericks coach Kerry MacLean have been named head coaches for the two teams from Region 6.

Competition was tough and the successful athletes were selected following the tryout.  Congratulations to the following 16U CAPS who will train and play under Coach Harris' direction:

Best of luck to all our CAPS players and their teammates from Region 6!  We look forward to watching an exciting competition in August.
