March 28, 2008 - It has been announced on the Volleyball Canada website that former CAP ('05) and current University of Ottawa Gee-Gee Tess Edwards has been invited to the Senior Women's National Team Selection Camp, to be held this May at the University of Manitoba's Investors Group Athletic Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Canada's best women's volleyball players will take part in the Selection Camp May 5th-9th at the University of Manitoba, which will include members of last year's Senior women's team, as well as newly identified talent from the university (CIS and NCAA), and professional ranks.

"Unfortunately, my finger injury won't allow me to participate this year," explained Edwards.  "I've been directed to take care not to rush back into action too soon, so that's pretty frustrating, but it's such a crazy honour seeing my name on that list.  Thanks so much to Coach Miyashita and to Volleyball Canada for the invite."

This is Tess' 5th invitation to Team Canada tryouts since her first Youth National team camp in the summer of 2001.  Tess is the older sister of Laura Edwards, current member of the CAPS 17U Girls team.

This year's Selection Camp will identify athletes who will have immediate and long-term impact on the Senior National Teams, with approximately 22 - 24 athletes being selected at the conclusion of the camp.  This group will then stay in Winnipeg to train, and will make up the roster for Canada's Senior Women's Team at the 2008 Pan American Cup, May 28 - June 8 in Mexico, as well as an exhibition series with Denso Japan July 29 - August 5 in Canada.
