February 23, 2008 - With the weather on our side, we traveled down the 401 to Cambridge for the second time in 4 weeks to play in the OVA 15U Girls Bugarski Cup - Tier 3.

As it turned out, we were in the toughest pool of the tournament, with the two teams that finished the day in 1st and 2nd places.  First up were the Peel Selects (eventual winners) - a few great serving streaks put us out in the lead and we hung on to win 25-21. The next two sets were back and forth featuring errors on both sides and a CAPS match loss (16-25, 11-15).

Second up were the Storm Cyclones.  In this match the girls just couldn't get anything going, losing two straight, 17-25 and 18-25.

Our third pool match was against Etobicoke 381.  The CAPS got quick leads in both games, winning 25-16 and 25-23, placing the girls third in pool.

On to the all-important crossover match, against Burlington Blaze.  The CAPS were determined to show what they were made of, winning 25-19, 25-16, and ensuring a Top 8 placement.

On to the quarter finals against MAC.  This was definitely the match of the day, with almost flawless volleyball!  The girls looked the best they have looked all year, winning in three: 29-31, 25-13, 15-7.

The semis lined us up with Storm Cyclones once again, and again, the errors crept back into the CAPS' game, leading to a tight three-set loss: 22-25, 25-20, 14-16.

Now onto the bronze medal match against the Kitchener-Waterloo Predators Purple, the CAPS just couldn't pull it together, losing in 2 straight (16-25, 29-31) and putting us in 4th place for the day.  But the best news is that the girls will be moving up to Tier 2 for Provincials in nearby Pembroke!  Now that we've had a glimpse at how terrific these girls can play together (the MAC match) we should have a great showing at that event at the end of March.

Thank you so much to the Beans for billeting half the team and, as always, to coaches Cathy, Devon (and Adrien) for your terrific support from the corner.
