January 12, 2008 - It was off to Pembroke for the 15U girls to play in the OVA 16U Girls Challenge Cup - Zone E.  After a determined pep talk from Coach Cathy, we were ready to throw away our 'middle-of-the-pack' standing and play some volleyball.

1st up was the Pegasus Orange 15U team.  With some good serving and determined attitude, we won in straight sets, 25-11 and 25-19.

The 2nd pool play match was against the Pegasus 16U team.  We knew what we had to do after losing 12-25 in the first set.  We went out strong and played some of the best volleyball we've ever played.  It was tough, point-for-point, and very intense - we came out on top winning the next 2 sets 26-24 and 17-15, placing us 1st in our pool.

On to the all-important cross-over match.  This was against the Maverick Gunsmoke 16U team. We came out fast and took the lead and never looked back, winning two straight: 25-18, 25-15.

We met the Maverick Ambush 15U team in the semis, taking a quick 6 point lead and then fell flat, losing two straight: 19-25, 18-25.

On to the bronze medal match against the Pegasus 16U team, again.  We looked terrific, winning the first set 25-21. The second set slipped away 22-25, and the 3rd set was a real nail-biter which could have gone either way.  The score was tied right to the end... we lost 14-16, putting us in 4th place.

We achieved our goal, making it into the semis and ending in the Top 4.  We will continue working hard at practice and strive to win our upcoming tournaments.

Thank you to Cathy, Devon and the parents for coming out and encouraging us throughout the day.
