December 15, 2007 - With Mother
Nature on our side, we had a terrific early morning drive down the 401
to Trenton, to play up an age division at the OVA 16U Girls
McGregor Cup - Zone D.
First up was Durham Attack Black
15U, the eventual champions. We came out strong, with very
few errors, but were outplayed 14-25 and 7-25.
Our next pool play match was against the
Ottawa Kangaroos. We came out strong again, and with some
great rallies and some strong serving streaks, the girls won two
straight, 25-21 and 25-17, placing us second in our pool.
On to the playoff round to meet the Port
Perry Panthers. The girls were really ready for this match, and
never let up, once again winning two straight, 25-9 and
25-11.
The quarters pitted the girls against
Kingston Pegasus. We came out of the gate a little shaky and
never got settled in, losing 12-25 and 15-25.
Our last match of the day was against the Ganaraska Wolves.
We got out to a quick lead, and held on to win 25-15. Unfortunately,
the second and third sets got away from us, 11-25 and 10-15.
Congratulations girls on a 7th place finish! Thanks to Coach Cathy and to Matt Harris, who made
the trip down to join Cathy in the coach's corner.
