December 8, 2007 - OVA 15U Girls McGregor Cup/Tier 3 - What started out as a beautiful morning, quickly turned to snowy, blizzardy, white-out conditions, driving down the 417 to Gisèle Lalonde High School in Orleans.

The girls' first match was against K-W Predators Purple.  The CAPS came out strong and played a very even game, with very few errors, but lost 23-25.  The 2nd set started out a bit scattered, with some missed serves, but we stayed neck-and-neck, only to lose a nail-biter, 24-26.

Next up were the Aurora Storm Thunder.  Another shaky start - we trailed the whole way, despite closing the gap with some great serving streaks and some great attacks.  But the Storm had the answer, digging everything up, and we lost 20-25.  In the second set we took a quick lead and stayed close until the end, only to lose 20-25.

On to the all-important playoff round against Peel Selects.  With terrific serving, good communication, and great coverage, we took the lead and held on to win the first set, 25-20.  The girls knew how important this match was ... to stay in Tier 3, we had to win.  They did just that, never letting up and winning 25-18.  It was great to see everyone working so well together.

The quarters led us to match up against the Durham Attack Black team.  They jumped out quickly with big serves, and the CAPS never got a chance to settle in, losing 14-25.  The 2nd set stayed tight all the way.  It looked like we had them, but the gilrs lost in another nail-biter, 24-26.

Having just learned that we actually had to win this next match to stay in Tier 3, playing for 5th place, we met the Georgetown Impact team. The CAPS were up and ready, cruising to 25-11 and 25-10 wins to secure a 5th place finish.

Congratulations girls!!  Thanks to Coaches Cathy and Yuri for a great day of volleyball.
