November 18, 2007 - Congratulations are in order this evening to CAPS Alum and 'Original Six' member Kate Eckhardt, whose University of Albany Great Danes today won their 3rd NCAA America East Conference Championship in 4 years.  The Danes were underdogs this time around but dug deep to take both the University of New Hampshire WIldcats (semifinal) and heavily-favoured Stony Brook University Seawolves (final), both in 4 sets.  Eckhardt was listed as one of the final's Top 3 Performers by Gametracker, finishing with 9 kills, 3 assists, 2 service aces, 16 digs and 4 block assists.

The victory guarantees the Danes a berth in the upcoming 64-team NCAA Tournament (the 'Big Dance') which begins in a couple of weeks.  Congratulations Kate!
