November 10, 2007 - The
CAPS 16Us struck silver in Longueuil, Quebec at the Omnium du
Quebec 16 ans on Saturday. Our team played very hard all day
but, in the end, a very determined team from Vaudreuil called Les
Citadens took the gold.
In their first match, the CAPS started off great and beat
L'Impact (2-0). Next in pool play was Les Citadins.
The CAPS tried to adjust to this very strong hitting team but lost the
set (0-2). After finishing off strong in pool play with a win
over Drakkar (2-0), the 16U CAPS went into the quarter-finals
against Phénix and captured another convincing win
(2-0).
Next up in the semi-final were the Dragons who won the
first game in the set. But the 16U CAPS were looking for another
shot at Les Citadins and came back to win the second and third games
to advance to the final.
The CAPS lost the first game of the final (25-6) but they dug
deep and played a very strong second game and, at one point, had a
lead (18-13). However, in the end, Les Citadins won the
set (25-21).
The 16U CAPS provided those in attendance with a very exciting
ride and should be proud of the spunk and determination they
displayed to get the silver! Thanks to the 16U CAPS, their
coaches and the parents for a great day of volleyball.
