November 10, 2007 - Omnium du Quebec 15U - Excitement was in the air as the 15U girls were off to their first tournament of the year, in Longueuil, Quebec.  What a beautiful facility, with 8 courts and a ton of space around each court. We also had the pleasure of watching and cheering on our 16U CAPS as well. (Congrats on your silver medal!)

Our first match was against Celtiques Bleu.  You could feel the nerves on the court as the girls were quickly down 13-18, when Coach Cathy called a time-out.  The girls came back on the court and stormed to a 27-25 win ... what did you say to them Cathy?  This momentum continued into the second set, as the girls quickly led 11-7 and then, with a few serving streaks, finished off the set with a 25-14 win.  What a great start to the season!

The second match was against Les Aigles.  The girls looked shaky right from the start, and never really settled in, losing 21-25 and 19-25.

The third match was against Les Citadins, a match where the girls discovered that the serve is everything.  With only one missed serve, they closed out the first set 25-10.  The second set was a little different, it was all about the serve-receive, and trying to stay off the net.  We were down 0-6 in a flash. The girls dug down deep, and came back from behind to win 25-23 in a real nail-biter.

This put us in 2nd place in our pool and, after a lot of arithmetic, 6th place in the playoff round, and off to the quarters against Les Aigles, again.  This time we had great success, jumping out to a quick lead, with terrific serves and winning the first set 25-22.  The second set was neck-and-neck the whole way to a 26-24 victory.

On to the semis against Celtiques Rouge.  The momentum from the quarters carried through the first set, with some good serves and great net play and a 25-19 win.  Sadly, the second set was the reverse, the girls came out shaky and never got settled in, losing 12-25 and 7-15 in the third.

The bronze medal match found the girls flat-footed and quickly down 17-25.  The second set was another nail-biter, with the girls squeaking by: 26-24.  On to the third and deciding set ... there seemed to be no fight left in them, and a score of 9-15 ended the day.

Congratulations on a 4th place finish girls!  Thank you to Coaches Cathy and Devon-.we couldn't have done it without you.
