October 30, 2006 - The NCVC held its 3rd Annual CAPS Kickoff event at St. Pius X High School on Monday evening.  Members of the executive, coaches, players, their parents (and even a few  MiniCAPS) got together for a little food, a little schmoozing, some great door prizes (all courtesy of the O'Doherty basement), for the opportunity to check out and try on all the new CAPS Gear for 2006-2007, and for a really entertaining scrimmage with all the girls mixed into four spirited all-age squads.  Mostly though, the Kickoff simply provides us with the opportunity to be introduced to everyone on and off the court who make the NCVC such a successful and vibrant organization.

Much thanks to all who organized the event, to the parents - for that spectacular spread of appetizers and sweets, to the 18U players - for their wonderful exhibition of volleyball prowess, to Bob Lafrenière and the staff at Colortex - for all the fabulous work they did to make sure the girls were well-outfitted in time for the Kickoff and this weekend's OVA events, and to Orest Stanko, Executive Director of the OVA, who was kind enough to drop by to offer a few words of encouragement to the players.

Finally, we'd all like to thank our Director of Operations, Judy McIntyre, for all the hours in the gym, on the internet, on the phone, and sleepless in her bed that it took to make sure all that great CAPS Gear was reserched, ordered, successfully transported across the border, printed and packaged in time for this week.  And you thought managing a team was stressful!

Now all that's left to do is... "Play ball!"
