June 27, 2006 - This past Tuesday, the National
Capitals Volleyball Club hosted its second ever Annual General Meeting
at Ben Franklin Place in Nepean. The AGM provided a good
opportunity for all interested members and parents of the NCVC to gain
a better understanding of the big picture of the club's activities and
learn more about the organization's goals and progress to-date.
Each member of the Board of Directors provided reports on their
respective portfolio of responsibilities from the past year and plans
for the upcoming season. In addition, the Fiscal Year Financial
Statements as at March 31, 2006 were approved.
At the AGM, the following members of the Board of Directors were
re-elected for another one-year term by the voting delegates:
Bob O'Doherty - President
Dan Wolfenden - Vice President and
Secretary
Denis L'Heureux - Director, Finance and
Treasurer
Paul Edwards - Director, Marketing
Communications
Luke Luecke - Director, Special Events
Cathy O'Doherty - Director, Volleyball
Programs
Two new Directors were also elected by the membership for
one-term terms:
Judy McIntyre - Director, Operations
Deborah Carmanico - Director, Sponsorship and
Fundraising
"We are really excited about the two individuals that were
elected to join our Board of Directors for the upcoming season",
stated NCVC President Bob O'Doherty. "The NCVC continues to be
fortunate enough to attract and retain high quality individuals on its
Board of Directors and we look forward to meeting the challenge of
providing the leadership and guidance necessary to make Year Three of
the club the best ever!"
In addition to reflecting on the successes of the past year, the
delegates at the AGM also had the chance to openly discuss how the
club can continue to successfully grow its programs and provide
opportunities for its players, teams and coaches to excel on a
Provincial and National basis. In this regard, it was announced
at the AGM that the club would field five girls teams for the
2006-2007 competitive indoor season at the 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U
age categories. The 2006-2007 tryout dates were also set
beginning on the weekend of September 9-10 at St. Pius X High
School.
