Two new Directors elected at CAPS AGM
by Dan Wolfenden

June 27, 2006 - This past Tuesday, the National Capitals Volleyball Club hosted its second ever Annual General Meeting at Ben Franklin Place in Nepean.  The AGM provided a good opportunity for all interested members and parents of the NCVC to gain a better understanding of the big picture of the club's activities and learn more about the organization's goals and progress to-date.  Each member of the Board of Directors provided reports on their respective portfolio of responsibilities from the past year and plans for the upcoming season.  In addition, the Fiscal Year Financial Statements as at March 31, 2006 were approved.

At the AGM, the following members of the Board of Directors were re-elected for another one-year term by the voting delegates:
Bob O'Doherty - President
Dan Wolfenden - Vice President and Secretary
Denis L'Heureux - Director, Finance and Treasurer
Paul Edwards - Director, Marketing Communications
Luke Luecke - Director, Special Events
Cathy O'Doherty - Director, Volleyball Programs

Two new Directors were also elected by the membership for one-term terms:
Judy McIntyre - Director, Operations
Deborah Carmanico - Director, Sponsorship and Fundraising

"We are really excited about the two individuals that were elected to join our Board of Directors for the upcoming season", stated NCVC President Bob O'Doherty.  "The NCVC continues to be fortunate enough to attract and retain high quality individuals on its Board of Directors and we look forward to meeting the challenge of providing the leadership and guidance necessary to make Year Three of the club the best ever!"

In addition to reflecting on the successes of the past year, the delegates at the AGM also had the chance to openly discuss how the club can continue to successfully grow its programs and provide opportunities for its players, teams and coaches to excel on a Provincial and National basis.  In this regard, it was announced at the AGM that the club would field five girls teams for the 2006-2007 competitive indoor season at the 14U, 15U, 16U, 17U and 18U age categories.  The 2006-2007 tryout dates were also set beginning on the weekend of September 9-10 at St. Pius X High School.
