On June 3rd, I was very fortunate enough to have the opportunity
to conduct tryouts for the 2006 Ontario Summer Games Region 6
team. What better place to be on a cold and rainy Saturday
morning than the St. Pat's gym with many of the best 16U players in
Region 6! Twenty-three nervous athletes competed for 14 spots
and a chance to participate in the huge multi-sport games being hosted
here in Ottawa.
After the end of a tiring three hours, the coaching selection
committee was responsible for choosing 10 roster players and 4
alternates to represent Region 6 at Ontario Summer Games. All
the 15U and 16U CAPS had terrific tryouts and put in a great effort.
I was particularly proud of both their display of skill and
sportsmanship. Of the 14 athletes selected, 11 of them
were National Capitals. Way to go girls!
Congratulations as well to the Head Coach of the Region 6 team,
CAPS coach Matt Harris. Along with assistant, Matt Hoey, the
team will begin practicing on weekends in July.
Congratulations to all! We anxiously look forward to
watching you represent Region 6 at the Games at the University of
Ottawa in August.
