January 6-7, 2006 - After a great Christmas break had by all it was time to get back to the court for the 18U CAPS.  This time it was a college and University tournament at the Cégep de l'Outaouais in Gatineau, the 20U Challenge des Griffons, made up of 8 teams from all around Eastern Canada.

Our first game (in a best out of 5 format) was against the host team, our local rivals Les Griffons de l'Outaouais.  It was a good first match for the CAPS but unfortunately the Griffons came out on top in 4 tough sets, 3-1.

The second match on Friday evening was against a Cégep team, Les Volontaires de Sherbrooke.  It was a great match, the girls played their hearts out and went the distance, but the Sherbrooke team came out on top in five.

Saturday saw the CAPS matched up against RMC (Royal Military College from Kingston), a university team that competes in the OVA.  The CAPS were now wide awake, playing awesome ball and taking the match in four.

Unfortunately there was a 3-way tie for second place and the CAPS found themselves eliminated from medal contention. So it was off to play for 5th place against the St. Thomas "Tommies", a college team from New Brunswick.  The CAPS played their best games of the weekend, taking the match in 3 straight sets.

Overall it was a good tournament for the CAPS as they prepare for the upcoming weekend where they will be traveling to Pennsylvania to play in The Martin Luther King Classic Kickoff at Temple University in Philadelphia.

Good luck girls...
