December 17, 2005 - Christmas lists, bustling shoppers, twinkling lights, carols - a week before Christmas holidays and visions of sugarplums were the last things dancing in the heads of the 15U CAPS.  A winter storm looked like it was going to derail the team from participating in the OVA 15U Girls McGregor Cup - Tier 1, in Stratford, but a determined group of parents with a close eye on the forecast set out on that familiar trek down the 401 to get the girls to their big event.

Apart from the snow, the Edwards family endured flight delays at Pearson Airport as they waited on the arrival of this weekend's guest assistant - CAPS alum Tess Edwards.  Tess was returning to the snow banks of southwestern Ontario from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, fresh from an appearance in the NCAA Championship tournament with her University of Kentucky Wildcats

With Christmas carols playing all around, it's only fitting that you sing along to the "Twelve Days of Christmas" to get an abbreviated taste of the weekend's events:

"At McGregor in Stratford the 15Us did see ...
           12 hours of volleyball ...
           11 PM curfew ...
           10 CAPS a-playing ...
           9 teams to battle ...
           8 sets victorious ...
           7 hours of driving ...
           6 players digging ...
           !!! 5 loaded vans !!!
           4 breaks to munch ...
           3 dark courts ...
           2 matches lost ...
and a bronze medallion for the tree!!!"

Many thanks to everyone who drove, chaperoned, baked, prepared lunches and cheered.  Thanks to the girls for proving that they are indeed one of the top teams in the province, and a special thanks to coaches Cathy and Tess, who gave of their precious time so close to the holidays.  The girls and their parents truly appreciate your patience and dedication.

As 2005 draws to a close, the 15U CAPS wish everyone a restful holiday break, as they look forward to more exciting volleyball in the New Year at the OVA 16U Girls Challenge Cup - Tier 2 in Kitchener/Waterloo on January 28th.
