Statement of Mission, Vision and Values

Mission

The National Capitals Volleyball Club is dedicated to the growth and development of youth volleyball in the Ottawa area through the pursuit and achievement of excellence in all interests.

Vision

The National Capitals Volleyball Club envisions a future where:

• Participants are attracted to its programs and teams on the strength of its coaching staff as supported by a committed and progressive volunteer infrastructure;
• Its athletes and coaches consistently achieve success at the regional, provincial, national and international levels;
• Its athletes, coaches and volunteers represent the club and sport with the highest of ideals, each playing a role to give back to the volleyball community in support of the continued growth of the sport;
• Its athletes, coaches and volunteers are passionate about volleyball;
• It is recognized as one of the premier volleyball clubs in Ontario and Canada.

Values

Sport can be a powerful vehicle for the development of human well-being. To realize this potential, the National Capitals Volleyball Club must live by and promote a set of fundamental ethical beliefs and principles which govern the way the organization and its members conduct themselves both on and off the court.

These beliefs and principles are as follows:

• We Believe that our volleyball programs should be athlete-centred;
• We Believe that our volleyball programs should be both fun and an agent for personal and social growth;
• We Believe that our volleyball programs should promote the spirit of fairness, integrity, opportunity and trust;
• We Believe every member should have the opportunity to achieve his/her maximal potential, developmentally and/or competitively, in the pursuit of excellence;
• We Believe all participants should have access to a quality experience that encourages their lifetime participation in volleyball;
• We Believe those who participate in our volleyball programs have a responsibility to teach and apply their values;
• We Believe our organization should operate in a professional manner and be run for and by its members in a democratic, open and transparent manner;
• We Believe in free and open communication and a respect for the views, roles and contributions of every member.
