the National Capitals were well represented on the rostrum. The
18U CAPS' Kate Eckhardt won the Volleyball Player of the

level in 2004 and for earning a spot on the Canadian Youth
National volleyball team last summer.
Several members of the current CAPS 16U Girls team were on
hand to accept an award as one of Ottawa's National
Championship winning sports clubs for 2004. On hand to accept
their medals and certificates were Coach Cathy O'Doherty,
Taylar Reid, Pascale Robichaud, Camille West,
Sarah Fetterly, Alexa Spas, Burcu Baltas, Claudia
Séguin and Erin Lunney, all who were members of the
Ottawa Kangaroos 2004 15 & Under Canadian East Open championship
winning team. Absent on the evening were Assistant Coach Jeff
Prentice, Erin O'Doherty, Chantelle L'Heureux
and Stephanie McGuinty.
The evening's drama came in the 2005 Female Coach of the
Year category, when Coach Cathy O'Doherty took home the
honour for her coaching work at the 15U and 18U club levels and for
her work in high school volleyball in 2003-04. Cathy O'Doherty
coached the Ottawa Kangaroos 15U Girls team to Provincial and National
championships in 2004, and also led the Ottawa Kangaroos 18U Girls
team to a silver medal at the 2004 18U Provincial Championships.
Congratulations to all on a fantastic showing!
